Progressive, Auto-Owners Insurance, and Nationwide rank among the best RV insurance companies based on customer satisfaction, discounts, and coverage options, according to Money Magazine's review of more than 15 insurers.

Progressive offers disappearing deductibles that reduce by 25% every policy renewal without claims or violations, potentially reaching zero after several claim-free periods. The company includes accident forgiveness at no cost for claims under $500. Progressive has an A+ rating from A.M. Best but scores below average on J.D. Power's satisfaction study (672 out of 1,000). It's available in most states, though rates differ between online and agent purchases.

Auto-Owners Insurance received the highest marks for customer satisfaction, with an A++ A.M. Best rating and a B grade on Crash Network's 2026 Insurer Report Card. The insurer has fewer complaints with the National Association of Insurance Commissioners than most competitors. Only available in 26 states, it requires contacting a local agent for quotes.

Nationwide offers over 10 discounts including credits for RV safety courses, joining RV organizations, and paying annually. The company scores above average on J.D. Power (728 out of 1,000). Not all discounts appear on its website.

Good Sam Insurance Agency lets customers compare policies from multiple providers including Progressive, Foremost, Safeco, and National General on one platform. Roamly allows you to rent out your RV without cancellation, unlike most insurers that decline coverage for rental situations.

Most states require at least liability coverage for RV drivers. Full-time RV residents typically need comprehensive coverage.
