Amazon released the Kindle Page-Turn Cover, a $80 accessory that adds physical page-turn buttons to compatible Kindle models. The cover pairs magnetically with the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition ($250) or Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition ($320), making the total cost at least $330 for a Kindle with physical buttons.

The cover is made of plant-based leather and houses two thin buttons on the right-hand bezel. The top button advances one page forward and the bottom button goes backward. You can swap which button does which in device settings. Left-handed readers can flip the device to use buttons on the other side, and the text will automatically reorient itself.

The buttons only turn pages one at a time. They do not map to other functions like skipping chapters. You still use the touchscreen to navigate your library and menus.

Kevin Keith, Amazon's vice president in charge of Kindle, said roughly 5% of the market uses physical buttons. Physical page-turn buttons were once standard on all Kindles, then became a premium feature exclusive to the Kindle Oasis before that device was discontinued in 2024.
