Starting in November, Discord will create public web pages for its Discoverable Servers, which are large public servers with at least 1,000 members. By mid-December, these pages may appear in Google Search results, showing discussion summaries and individual messages from public channels.

The change means people without a Discord account can view server content without joining. However, messages won't display your username or avatar.

Server admins can disable public channels from web search through Server Settings > Web Presence. Individual members can opt out of discoverability under User Settings > Data and Privacy. This toggle applies to all discoverable channels at once, not individual servers.

Members cannot prevent their messages from appearing in channel summaries. Messages sent before mid-December won't appear in search regardless of your settings. If you enable discoverability and later disable it, messages you sent between mid-December and when you turned it off will remain visible unless you delete them directly from Discord.

Private servers and direct messages remain private. Discord notes this change only applies to Discoverable Servers, which are public by nature.
